Saturdays are about to become your child’s favorite day of the week! Our Saturday Art Program Spring 2025 Session Starts March 1st for grades 1 thru 8, and it’s a whirlwind of colors, laughter, and hands-on learning. Your child’s imagination will come to life with each stroke of the brush, chop of an onion, Snap of a picture, and every swirl of the pencil. It’s more than just art – it’s a celebration of individuality and a platform to build confidence while having a blast. COURSE DESCRIPTIONS:
VISUAL ARTS – Painting, Drawing, Sculpture, 2D and 3D projects. Participants will construct cultural masks create maps, family trees, warrior shield, etc., to develop an appreciation for cultural diversity.
MUSIC – Drum or Vocal Classes can be in-person pending enrollment/interest. Students learn musicianship, hand-to-hand technique, snare drum reading, drum set coordination, and repertoire development, African drumming. Vocal classes involve learning notes and pitches, and singing as a group. Classes are group classes for 90 minutes.
THEATER/CREATIVE WRITING – 10-15 minute stretch and cardio, 5 – 10 minute articulation exercises & Theater manipulation exercises Introduce student to Theater Etiquette and Stage Direction Use literacy and Imagination exercises to strengthen the students reading and comprehension skills.
CULINARY ARTS (10 years and up) – Classes are based on the Ohio Educational Standards of Social Studies, Mathematics, Fine Arts and Financial Literacy. Scholars receive practical and theory learning basic culinary skills. Prepping, cooking and plate execution. Scholars will use research, kitchen supplies, tolls and equipment along with digital imagery from cameras to record finished products for marketing.
PHOTOGRAPHY/FILM Students will learn how cameras work, how to hold them, exposure options and composition. Film/videography also involves script writing, with students determining the content as well as being a participant. Students will actively participate on both sides of the camera.
There will be a culminating photo exhibit and video presentation at the end of the semester/session.
GRAPHIC ARTS utilizing ProCREATE (10 years and up) Let’s dive into the exciting world of digital art with Procreate! In this beginner-friendly class, young artists will learn to navigate Procreate’s interface and tools, unlocking their creative potential on a digital canvas. We’ll explore brush types, layers, color palettes, and more, teaching you how to bring your ideas to life step by step. By the end of the course, students will feel confident in creating their digital masterpieces, all while having fun and developing new artistic skills! No prior experience is needed just bring your imagination!
